It's that time of year again and Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I love the festivities, the decor, the food (and all of the baking) and getting to pile on layers of clothes and not look like a crazy person. So I wanted to take a little time to share the holiday spirit and do a quick home tour.
Our living room is the main space we hang out in, especially when Beck is sleeping. It's also where I decided to put up our tree to try to help deter him from playing with it as his "toy room" is also the dining room. We travel every year for the holiday to be with family so after Beck was born, I invested in a Balsam Hill artificial tree. It's extremely easy to set up: three sections, no color matching needed, and the branches simply fold out. It includes a nice storage bag, stand and several gloves.
Every year, our collection of ornaments grows. I first started with assorted "filler" ornaments and then purchased pretty wire ornaments from Crate and Barrel. The year of my baby shower, even more were added as they were used as chandeliers/decor. I also include cinnamon pine cones and pheasant feathers as a nod to our home state of South Dakota. I love the photo frame ornament of Beck with his portrait for his first Christmas and the salt dough ornament we made last week of his hand print. The ribbon slowly keeps getting shifted and pulled by Beck, but I just consider it his "artistic touch". And our tree skirt is actually a fuzzy blanket that I fell in love with and decided to use year round.
I've started a "tree" collection as well - which honestly started because of my baby shower. Gina with Organically You Events started my little collection and since then, I've been DIY-ing little trees and purchasing store bought ones. They get placed around the house and add a fun little whimsical touch - and Beck loves playing with them as well. I have several different brands but this ONE, this ONE and this ONE are favorites.
My grandfather passed away and my mom dried flowers from his funeral and saved them in an ornament. It's nice to have a reminder of him, especially around the holidays.
I have a major blanket obsession. I believe one can never have too many blankets. A few favorites are our down Eddie Bauer blankets, the Vince Camuto fuzzy blanket and in our wire basket, a french linen blanket from Farmhouse and CO along with Beck sized blankets, more Eddie Bauer blankets and a few Ikea throws.
I love receiving all the holiday and photo cards in the mail! We get around 50 each year and finding a spot for them was tough until I purchased this Display Tower. It spins so it's fun to be able to look through each card. I typically take it out as soon as we get our first card in the mail and will put it away around Valentines Day.
